CHABC Dissolving by March 31, 2025

Posted on March 26, 2025

Since 1940, the Catholic Health Association of British Columbia (CHABC) has provided leadership, partnership, networking, consultations and education through newsletters, workshops, professional updating and the promotion, advocacy and integration of values and quality in health care. After 85 years in operation, CHABC will dissolve, and its programs and services will be transferred to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vancouver by March 31, 2025.

The Board is responding to a significant opportunity to continue the delivery of our programs and services through the Archdiocese of Vancouver and to also address the following realities that make it challenging for CHABC to continue delivering on its mandate and current operating format:

  • Most of our work occurs in Lower Mainland communities within the Archdiocese of Vancouver; and
  • A significant reduction in our funding for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.

Thank you for your many years of support and commitment to advancing the healing ministry of Jesus through advocacy, education and partnership. We feel very optimistic about the future of this important work that we have done together in continuing our ministry.

The Denominational Health Association (DHA), to which all CHABC care-provider members belong, will continue to be the advocate for faith-based health care with the BC government.
