Since 1940, the Catholic Health Association of British Columbia has provided leadership, partnership, networking, consultations and education through newsletters, workshops, professional updating and the promotion, advocacy and integration of values and quality in health care.
Our Association’s principal and associate membership currently represents twenty-five Catholic health care facilities in the province.
Some of our other associate members are Catholic Women’s Leagues, Knights of Columbus Councils, religious congregations, Bishops, Pastors, hospital auxiliaries, foundations and various associations.
We also count many families and individuals as members of CHABC.
CHABC believes that “health” is more than just physical well-being. Social, spiritual and emotional aspects of an individual are integral components of good health. We support and encourage programs that respond to the changing needs of the sick, elderly, homebound and bereaved in our parish communities.
CHABC works with the Denominational Health Association to ensure that the mission and values of the founders of our facilities are safeguarded through the changes brought about by health care reform and restructuring. We are committed to building collaborative relationships with health authorities and all levels of government.
CHABC works to ensure that the conscience rights of Catholic caregivers are protected under the Physician Assisted Suicide laws.
CHABC provides current information on health issues that touch on our faith to our members, staff in our facilities and our volunteers, as well as to the broader community.
The CHABC Ethics Committee and Pastoral Care Committee support individuals who work in our facilities and volunteer in our parishes to carry out the Mission of Catholic health care.

“Caring for our planet in little ways”
March 28, 2023
What if we all chose one thing we could do to make a difference in Laudato Si’, however small that may seem. One small step can lead to another. It can inspire a friend to join or to find their own project. It can grow to a neighbourhood, to a town and so on. If we all decide there is nothing we can do, it will probably be self-fulfilling.
