Bursary Program for Graduating Students

Posted on July 1, 2023

In 2023, the Catholic Health Association of BC (CHABC) granted a $500 Bursary to a graduating student enrolled in a Catholic secondary school.

The board of directors of CHABC was pleased to announce that the 2023 CHABC Bursary Program Recipient is Matthew Elias from Immaculata Regional High School, Kelowna whose essay on Spirituality in Health Care was selected. In the Fall, Matthew will be attending Okanagan College’s Business Administration Program and looks forward to specializing in accounting. His goal is to become a Certified Professional Accountant.

Congratulations and best wishes to Matthew!

Please be advised that the Catholic Health Association of BC (CHABC) will not be offering a bursary to students this year. Over half of the applicants last year used an AI app to write their essay. With the increasing use of AI to write essays, we feel that we are unable to fairly judge the applicants so we have decided to not renew our bursary program this year and will explore some other options for next year.

We wish the students all the best in their future studies.
